ICS is finally rolling out to several popular devices. This video features a list of all phones that have and are getting the Android ICS update. Amidst the confusion, we've put together a handy list of the legacy devices that have already been updated to Ice Cream Sandwich, as well as the ones that are promised an upgrade at a future date. Of course, many phones and tablets have ICS ROMs, leaked builds and other unofficial versions of the new firmware available, but we'll only discuss official downloads here. We plan to amend the list as the update rolls out to more devices, so be sure to check back from time to time. Head past the break to see how much of a reach Ice Cream Sandwich has. Samsung Samsung's tackling the next version of TouchWiz in a major way, already rolling Ice Cream Sandwich out to a number of unlocked devices -- the Galaxy S II being the most significant. And there's plenty more coming: as we've come to expect, updates to branded devices tend to stall in carrier-specific testing, and Galaxy Tab users outside of Canada are still waiting for their turn to get ICS. Still, Sammy's done the best job so far in pushing Android 4.0 out to its customer base. On its blog, Sony has announced that the first updates will start in mid-April for the Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V, and Xperia Ray, and will continue over the next four to six weeks. The second round, which will apply to the Xperia Arc, Xperia Play, Xperia Neo, Xperia Mini, Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active, and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman, is more tentatively scheduled for the end of May or early June. We've already seen betas for several of these devices, most recently the Xperia Play. This news, however, means that Xperia users won't need to unlock their phones or give up any features in order to get their hands on Ice Cream Sandwich. Sony says it'll be posting more information as the release date arrives, and that the update will only be available through PC Companion and Bridge for Mac — not as an over the air download. Sony also says it won't be notifying users when their update is ready, so that they'll make a "conscious and informed decision" to download it. Update: As some readers have pointed out, Sony has started rolling out the Ice Cream Sandwich update to the first batch of phones (Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray) in Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and Norway, with the updates making their way to Europe in the next "4-6 weeks." ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Source:youtube Added:04/15/12 12 views | ||
